Expert Answers about Chevrolet RV Skid Wheels

  • Bolt-On Skid Wheels For A 5th Wheel Trailer That Works With A 3-1/2" Square Hitch Bar
  • For your fifth wheel we do have an option for you, but we don't have an option that swivels. The Ultra-Fab Hitch Mounted Skid Wheels for RVs up to 30' Long # UF48-979015 will work great for your fifth wheel and will fit over a 3-1/2" wide square hitch cross tube. Skid wheels aren't designed to be bolted to the bumper of your 5th wheel because the bumper isn't going to be able to handle the type of force applied to the skid wheel when your 5th wheel bottoms out. Generally, skid wheels...

  • Best Skid Wheel For Hitch Mounted Mobility Scooter Lift
  • If you're looking for a bolt on solution, I recommend going with the Ultra-Fab Hitch Mounted Steel Rollers # UF48-979017 which are designed for 2-1/2" hitch receivers. While these are designed to be used at the rear of your RV on a hitch, I believe they will also provide you with the appropriate solution on your receiver mounted on the back of your vehicle. There are some much better options that are weld on options- like the Ultra Fab Steel Roller # UF48-979023 , which is 2-1/2" wide....

  • What Part Can I Use to Avoid Bottoming Out on My Travel Trailer?
  • While we do not carry a specific V-drag weld-on bar that protects your trailer from bottoming out, we do have an option that serves the same purpose. From the specs I have on your 2010 Forest River Cherokee Grey Wolf travel trailer, it measures 29.25 feet long. For that length, I recommend using the Ultra-Fab Skid Wheels for Low-Profile RVs up to 30' Long - 4" Diameter # UF48-979011. These skid wheels come with weld-on brackets and are constructed for the length of your trailer to prevent...

  • Skid Wheel Needed for Coupler with Safety Chains Loops in the Way of Hitch Pin Mounted Wheel
  • Since the location of your hitch pin hole and the safety chain tabs don't allow you to use a skid wheel like part # UF48-979020 or # RM-050, the only other option that may work is if you welded a skid wheel like part # UF48-979021 onto the bottom of your hitch receiver. The only issue with this is that if you have a fairly hefty vehicle it may not hold up very well as there is a note not to install it on a diesel pusher motorhome.

  • Hardware for Installing Ultra-Fab Rotating Hitch Mounted Skid Wheels # UF48-979014
  • It sounds like you have a set of the Ultra-Fab Rotating Hitch Mounted Skid Wheels # UF48-979014. These are supplied with straight carriage bolts, not u-bolts, for installation. U-bolts might distort the bracket that is attached to the caster. My contact at Ultra-Fab said that for this item you can use Grade 5 (USA) or Grade 8 (China) hardware of the appropriate length for your application, but not u-bolts. Other Ultra-Fab skid wheels, such as their # UF48-979018 do use u-bolts for installation.

  • What Size Lube Plate Needed for Husky 16K Silver Series 5th Wheel Hitch
  • The size lube plate needed will be dependent on the size of the skid plate on your 5th wheel hitch. For a Husky Silver Series 5th wheel hitch like yours, you'd want to use a 10 inch plate like the # HT34914 that you'd looked at. Hitches with a larger skid plate such as the Reese # RP30922 M5 Series would use a 12 inch lube plate like # RP83001. Measuring the width of the skid plate will give you an idea of the lube plate needed. You'll want a plate that covers as much as the plate as possible....

  • Recommended Lube Plate for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch
  • We're glad you're happy with your B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch. You made a great choice! B&W recommends a 10 inch lube plate. I'd go with # RP83002 which would prevent the skid plate of your hitch from getting all scratched up, and would eliminate the need to grease the skid plate which typically gets grease all over the place.

  • How to Keep Extended Ball Mount from Scraping the Ground on Motorhome

  • Roadmaster Base Plates for a Sterling Tow Bar and a 2011 Jeep Liberty
  • The first thing you are going to want to do is consult the owners manual of your 2011 Jeep Liberty to determine if it can be flat towed or if anything additional is needed to tow the vehicle. From the research I did, all wheel drive models with automatic transmissions and models with 2 wheel drive and a 6 or 5 speed can only be towed on a trailer. Two wheel drive models with automatic transmission will require a transmission lube pump. And 4 wheel drive models with automatic transmission...

  • Parts Needed For Yard Ramp Build

For the wheels, I recommend the Ultra-Fab Hitch Mounted Skid Wheels for RVs up to 30' Long - 4" Diameter - Qty 2 # UF48-979015. For the 2 speed manual crank jack, I recommend the Square 2-Speed Jack - Drop Leg w/ Spring Return - Sidewind - 12-3/8" Travel - 10K # TJD2SP-12000SP-F. I don't know what you mean by tow boot. I assume you want a combo bar like # E-9 or a receiver like # UF35-946401. For safety...

  • Skid Wheel Preventing Trailer Hitch Bottoming Out on Steep Driveway
  • I'm sorry to hear the ground clearance isn't what you need for your 2020 Kia Sedona EX due to the steep driveway. The Roadmaster Rollaway Trailer Hitch Protector # RM-050 is my recommendation for you which will work with or without an accessory installed in the hitch receiver. If you plan on using a bike rack, this may still not give you clearance for the rack or the bike wheels depending on the rack used, so that should be considered as well. This will protect the hitch itself from...

  • For the Rota Flex Pin Box item # LC328484 that you referenced you will want to use the Curt Lube Plate for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches - 12" Diameter item # C16722. This will prevent scratches on your 5th-wheel hitch's skid plate and allows your trailer's king pin to slide into the hitch easily.

  • Recommended Solution for Hitch Dragging Over Speed Bumps on 2016 Toyota Sienna
  • I have a solution for you, but the Timbren # TTORSEN04 are not going to significantly lift the rear end of your vehicle and really aren't intended for this purpose. These are designed for when you're towing a camper that has a heavier tongue weight causing sag on the rear end when it's being towed and none of the available suspension enhancements for your 2016 Toyota Sienna will provide a real significant lift you're seeking. With that said, you can use the Ultra Fab # UF48-979020 skid...

  • Which Lube Plate For B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Hitch
  • B&W Recommends using a 10 inch diameter lube plate for their Patriot 5th wheel hitch, like the # BWRVK3270 hitch you'd looked at. The Reese 10 inch lube plate, part # RP83002 would be an excellent choice. A lube plate will prevent the skid on your Patriot hitch from getting all scratched and banged up without getting grease everywhere.

  • What Bed Rails to Install RBW Model X-16 5th Wheel in 1993 Chevrolet C/K Pickup
  • I first contacted RBW concerning compatibility of their X16 hitch with other brands of base rails, but since they exited the hitch business about 5 years ago they were unable to help me. My contact at Reese was unable to verify the RBWs fit to their base rail kit, but advised you can check compatibility by measuring the spacing for the mounting legs on your hitch. If they are 22 or 29 inches center-to-center, they should work with most standard base rails, including the two below. For...
